It seems the heyday of personal webpages has passed, more or less - or maybe most of my friends have simply matured beyond them. As a result, this new friends section has been pared down a lot, because linking to a page that's been out of date for over a year just doesn't seem to have a point.
Ali is my sister, although on the internet she's more commonly known as
armedwithjello. Her site's mostly known for its Scouting resources, like the
events list, and her
Event Planning For Dummies article (which has drawn
attention from as far away as Australia).
Dan, two other friends and I shared an apartment for a while. I was there for a year, total. Fun stuff, good times. As of September 2004 we're going our separate ways, apartment-wise, but will all still be living in the same housing development. Anyway... his site's pretty much just a blog and a bulletin board, about whatever he and others feel like writing about.
I'm not as involved in organizations as I used to be, unfortunately. School and the likes have made things like that difficult. But here are some links to some organizations that I either belong to, or agree with in spirit.
The York
Young Singles Network is run by my sister, Ali, whose personal site is
linked to above in the friends section. Although I don't really live in
York Region anymore, my family does, so I go to
the events if I'm home. It's fun, and very casual - just show up, have some fun,
meet some new people. It's for single people aged 20-30, and tries to help
people expand their social circle, which is something a lot of 20-somethings
seem to have difficulty doing on their own. But if you've got the guts to show
up (hey, bring a friend if you're shy!), you're bound to have a good time.
Rovers are the oldest program section of
Scouts
Canada. Tons of fun, and hard to explain in just a sentence or two,
but really, check it out. Ask me, if you're still not convinced.
Ontario Youth Parliament
(OYP) is a mock parliament I used to participate in before moving off to
university. Check out the Regionals page for info on Central Ontario Regional
Parliament (CORP), which I was also involved in back in the day.
murmurs.com - the unofficial but highly recognized REM fansite. Which I belong to.
